Flash Battery Expands to North America with Houston Facility

M&A, Partnerships and Funding Announcements

Flash Battery, an Italian-based manufacturer of lithium batteries for industrial machinery and electric vehicles, has announced the opening of its new subsidiary, Flash Battery Inc., in Houston, Texas. The move marks a significant step in strengthening the company’s footprint in the North American market, which already accounts for 35% of its turnover through direct and indirect sales.

The new facility includes office space and a warehouse designed to serve the fast-growing markets in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This expansion aligns with Flash Battery’s strategy to enhance after-sales service, gather market insights, and eliminate delays caused by time zone differences.

The choice of Houston as headquarters“, noted Marco Righi, co-founder of Flash Battery, which in 2023 achieved a turnover of 34 million euros, “is strategic with respect to our plans for development, and above all for after-sales service to support the American, Mexican and Canadian markets, which represent a fast-growing market for us.”

Operational Focus

While Flash Battery’s production and research remain centralized in its Sant’Ilario d’Enza headquarters in Reggio Emilia, Italy, the new Houston office will focus on customer relations and market-specific innovations.

“All research and production will remain in our headquarters in Sant’Ilario d’Enza, where more than 120 people are engaged in development,” Righi added. “The Houston office will instead focus on strengthening relations with overseas customers, gathering useful information for the innovations demanded by those markets, and providing remote assistance and any on-site visits free of delays due to differences in time zones.”

The company also highlighted its collaboration with skilled technicians who will travel throughout the NAFTA market to deliver localized support and expertise.

Supporting Key Partners and New Markets

The Houston subsidiary is expected to support Flash Battery’s key development partner, E80 Group, a multinational leader in intralogistics solutions also based in Reggio Emilia. E80 Group has achieved notable success in the U.S., where its operations continue to grow.

“With the opening of the Texas office, among other things, we will be able to support E80 Group, which isn’t just our main customer but a true development partner,” Righi noted.

Flash Battery sees additional opportunities in the construction and logistics automation sectors, as well as in airport operations. “We’re looking with great interest at the airport market, in particular all the vehicles that move goods and people at airports,” Righi said.
