Amprius Technologies are global industry experts in high-energy, high-power lithium-ion batteries and advanced silicon-anode cell technologies. SiMaxx incorporates Amprius’ silicon-nanowire anode architecture. The nanowires are grown directly onto the current collector and engineered with space within and around the structure to accommodate silicon expansion during charging. This architecture also maintains direct electrical pathways through the anode and supports the high silicon content used within the platform. The resulting SiMaxx portfolio includes high-energy, high-power and balanced energy-and-power cell configurations. Commercially available cells have reached 450 watt-hours per kilogram and 1,150 watt-hours per liter. Amprius has also developed a 400 watt-hour-per-kilogram cell capable of continuous discharge at up to 10C, supporting applications where sustained energy and high power must be addressed within the same battery design.

The distinction between SiMaxx and SiCore is therefore more than a mere difference in anode structure. The two technologies allow Amprius to support specialized, high-performance cell requirements through its internally manufactured silicon-nanowire platform, while also addressing a broader range of formats and commercial production volumes through SiCore.
SiMaxx manufacturing remains centered at the company’s Fremont, California, operation. The site houses Amprius’ headquarters, battery research and development laboratory and pilot-manufacturing capabilities. During 2025, the company continued to produce SiMaxx cells there while also using the facility to manufacture and ship SiCore cells for customer testing and qualification. Larger-scale SiCore production is supported through qualified contract-manufacturing partners. By the end of 2025, most Amprius customers had transitioned to second-generation SiCore products. As of March 31, 2026, the company reported access to more than 2.0 GWh of annual production capacity across pouch, cylindrical and prismatic formats through its international manufacturing network.
Amprius has also added a U.S.-based manufacturing partner for SiCore production. This wider model allows the company to use established cell-production capacity while retaining responsibility for its silicon-anode chemistry, cell design, product specifications and qualification requirements.
The breadth of the portfolio reflects the different demands placed upon batteries in flight, mobility and other weight-sensitive applications. Long-endurance aircraft may place the greatest emphasis on specific energy, while other unmanned platforms require a closer balance between operating duration and peak discharge. Robotics, defense systems and electric mobility introduce further and distinct considerations involving cell geometry, charging, cycle life, power and available installation volume. Amprius addresses those requirements through multiple cell architectures rather than treating energy density as the sole measure of battery performance. Its capabilities extend across silicon-anode materials, cell chemistry, electrode engineering, package design, customer qualification and commercial battery production.
Typical applications for Amprius technologies include unmanned aerial systems, high-altitude and long-endurance aircraft, electric aviation, defense platforms, robotics, light electric vehicles and other electric-mobility systems.
